If you’ve ever wished you could enjoy an off-leash adventure with your dog without the chaos, crowds, or unpredictable encounters that come with a public dog park, let me introduce you to one of my favorite hidden-gem apps: Sniffspot.

Sniffspot is basically Airbnb for dogs. It allows you to rent private land by the hour. You can find anything from backyards, wide-open fields, and wooded acreage, to ponds for swimming, and even indoor play spaces. Prices vary based on the size and amenities offered at the spot. I've seen spots with prices as low as $4 for one dog, and up to $20 for one dog, often with discounts for any additional dogs and/or each additional hour or half hour you book.

And the best part? It’s just you and your dog. No random dogs rushing the gate. No tense leash encounters. No guessing how someone else’s “friendly” dog behaves.

This is especially huge if you have a reactive dog, a dog that prefers personal space, or even if you just enjoy quieter, more intentional adventures. Public dog parks can be unpredictable by nature, and while they work for some dogs, they’re not the right fit for everyone, and that’s okay. Sniffspot gives you a safe alternative where your dog can still run, sniff, swim, and decompress without being overstimulated.

One of the things I love most about Sniffspot is how many unexpected, beautiful spots you can find. Some listings offer literal acres of land where your dog can sprint full-speed without interruption. Others have ponds or water access that are absolute gold for dogs who love to swim. A few of our favorite Sniffspot visits honestly feel more like mini nature retreats than “dog parks.”

Here is a really fun 28 acre Sniffspot I took my gang to. It had wooded acreage, large grassy fields, and a giant pond to swim in!!

And it’s not just an outdoor/ warm-weather thing. You can also find indoor play spaces, which has been a lifesaver. These are perfect for winter days, bad weather, or when you just want to let your dog move freely without bundling everyone up. Having a private indoor option means you’re not sacrificing exercise, enrichment, or sanity when the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Here is an indoor facility in my area that we love going to in the winter. It's actually a dog boarding facility that rents out their extra play area. They also have an indoor pool you can book too!

What I also really appreciate is how customizable the experience is. You can filter spots based on fencing, size, terrain, water access, and more. You can read reviews from other dog owners, see photos ahead of time, and choose a space that truly fits your dog.

Sniffspot has become one of my favorite ways to give my dogs meaningful enrichment without the stress that sometimes comes with public spaces. It lets us explore, play, and just enjoy each other’s company safely and on our own terms.

If you’re curious about trying Sniffspot, I have a discount code you can use for your first booking. It’s a great way to test it out and see just how many hidden gems are waiting near you.
